U.S. tariffs continue to pose challenges for the Canadian economy and President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act threatens even further losses in manufacturing unless Canada responds with targeted tax incentives to retain those jobs.

Here at home, the One Canadian Economy: An Act to enact the Free Trade and Labour Mobility in Canada Act and the Building Canada Act aims to stimulate major project investment, accelerate regulatory approvals and eliminate barriers to interprovincial trade. With its passage, the government intends to reinvigorate Canada’s economy after decades of underperformance and stagnant prosperity. The challenge now lies in effective execution.

Osler National Co-Chair Maureen Killoran and Osler Special Advisor and former Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz, discussed these and other issues.
